Wayan Sika  

Wayan Sika was born in Silakarang, Gianyar. He is a graduate on SSRI (ISI) Yogyakarta and he is among one of the founding fathers of Sanggar Dewata Indonesia (SDI), alongside Nyoman Gunarsa, Pande Gde Supada, Wayan Arsana, and others. He is also among the pioneers for the transformation of Balinese and Hindu iconographies in his art creations. Sika was also the chairperson of Sanggar Dewata Indonesia, and is recognized for his commitments upon the visualization of religious values and characteristics within the modernism of Sanggar Dewata Indonesia. As an artist, Sika has presented his art creations in numerous exhibitions both domestically and internationally; in particular East Asia and Europe. Now days, Sika maintains his involvement in the arts through the management of Sika Gallery that was established as a proactive art space and venue for numerous art exhibitions especially for contemporary arts. Following his international networks, Sika forwards the interest of contemporary arts through the " Bali Basel " program, a program dedicated for cultural exchanges between Bali and Swiss.
